Local Schools have $8,000 - $18,000 per student

Original post made by Parent, Menlo Park: Central Menlo Park, on Jan 16, 2013

Menlo and Redwood city patch posted the school funding comparisons of many peninsula schools today, sure to insight a rehash of our current non-equitable state/local funding model, and Prop 13 impact.

Frankly, it's shocking local schools have anywhere from $8,000 to $18,000 per student (before foundation grants, I think).

Nothing fair about that. Some schools have the luxury to be more efficient with their spending, and others barely make do. Something needs to change, in addition to the funding model.
