Education secretary starts tour at Sequoia High

U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan was at Sequoia High School in Redwood City on Wednesday (Sept. 12) to kick off a back-to-school bus tour highlighting the challenges the nation's education system is facing.

Too bad the Almanac wasn't there to report on this first hand. It really shows the greatness of our local public high school in Redwood City. As an alumni and a present parent of a student, Sequoia High School continues to excel, serving ALL of the community.

Plus, there was a group of band students there presenting music, a feat that only a few years ago would not have been possible as the program was in disarray.

Go Cherokees!
