State Senate candidates in 30 minutes or less

California State Assemblyman Jerry Hill, D-San Mateo, seems like a man who really could give you his life story in three minutes. He demonstrated his mastery of the elevator pitch before a crowd of about 35 people at a forum July 17 hosted by the Menlo Democrats club.

"It's a bad deal for the Peninsula."

Yes, Ms. Lieber, it sure is, and it's a terrible deal for the state of California. In any case, I oppose Mr. Hill's candidacy. Ms. Sally Lieber gets my vote.

And, as a matter of record, I'm not voting for the tax ballot measure, despite my anxiety about further education cuts.

My fellow Democrats in the Legislature and in the Governor's office are going to have to wise up and start behaving like responsible adults. If they can't manage the state's economy, they need to be replaced.

With Sacramento's current priorities, everything is upside down and backwards. When will we return to sanity?
