Ms. Keith is relatively inexperienced and with just barely 3 months under her belt as mayor should really be considered a long shot for the District 4 Supervisor seat. Mr. Lawrence's premise that it should be a "spirited contest" was predicated on the assumption that Ms. Keith would be elected to the Board of Supervisors. In this highly competitive race there are other candidates with far greater experience than Ms. Keith and it is probable that she will not prevail in this election.

Not many people see Ms. Keith as a viable candidate and for her to run for higher office so soon after being elected to City Council could cause one to question her motives. The public generally is turned off by political opportunists whose primary goal is not to serve the people but to promote their meteoric rise in politics.

No one knows Ms. Keith well enough to question her sincerity but she does give the appearance of putting herself before the public's interest.

If she wants to prevail in this election she must dispel that notion. She has her work cut out for herself. Bon Chance

With respect to the amount of experience needed to be a great Supervisor, let me point to these two ladies who Never held a public office until Supervisor of San Mateo County.

Also the Oath should be looked at and considered. This open seat District 4 has been well known for a long time. Its not a surprise, someone didn't die or resign. If some candidates have just recently taken an oath to fulfill a term obligation they should keep it.

It is inevitable, if Ms. Keith is elected to the Board of Supervisors that there will be a face-off with Ms. Slocum for the 18th Congressional District Seat when Anna Eshoo retires. This is the most obvious to anyone who has followed Menlo Park Democratic Party Politics in the past few years.

Slocum is the informal leader for the Democratic Party in Menlo Park. Forget Woodell being the leader of the Menlo Park Democratic Club. He has no power and has built up no political chits to cash in. Slocum, on the other hand, wields significant influence over Democratic Party matters in Menlo Park and has a mountain of political chits to cash in when the time is right.

Keith is the political newcomer and has thrown down the gauntlet. She will not let Slocum waltz into the 18th CD seat without a challenge.

Slocum can't run for the Board of Supervisors now due to financial obligations and must stay with her highly influential and well paying Attorney's position with PG&E. But in 12 years her daughter will have long been graduated from college, Eshoo will be considering retirement, and Keith, if successful will have finished a 12 year stint on the Board of Supervisors.

That sets the stage for the Keith Slocum Showdown. Will Keith have gained enough political power to take on the heavily favored Slocum and become a member of the U.S. House of Representatives? It is too soon to tell but right now Slocum has the political advantage. Will Slocum have the advantage in 12 years? We will find out.

Fortunately, the minutes of the menlo democrats meetings are public. All the individuals named above appear to be members, and there has been no discussion of such wild conspiracy theories.
