Foundation scrambles to meet deadline

The nonprofit foundation that supports Menlo Park City School District schools has set an ambitious fundraising goal of $4 million this year, but faces a Feb. 15 deadline to reach goals set by donors offering two grants that total $300,000.

Congrats to the MPAEF for upping their goals!

As far as the 47% of families out there who have not donated---shame on you! Not so long ago there was a 76% community vote to increase taxes and the majority of the community do not have kids in school. What kind of message are you sending the Menlo Park community now when you can only get 53% participation?

Just think how much you would be paying if you sent your kids to private school with the same resources---probably $12,000 per child! Isn't your kid's education worth a little of your monthly budget??

I think MPAEF should be shooting for 90% participation!

Maybe the message some of us are sending is that we don't agree with the poor choice of the over-paid superintendent Ghysels? It's funny how he is staying out of the press these days.
