I was so happy to read this article as I am a retired teacher of 16 years teaching at Laurel School in the Menlo Park school district and loved this program while there. The program includes background on the artist, a copy of the real art work, a wonderful discussion time as was mentioned in the article, then the important part of "hands on" activity for the children to experience the concepts introduced by the lesson and lastly the artwork for each student is displayed at some time during the school year. A truly complete program! I am now a grandmother and have taken the training and am teaching Art in Action in my grandson's First grade classroom at Redeemer Lutheran School in Redwood City! What a ripple effect this has had for me! Congratulations to Judy and Betsy and all the staff of the AIA Program for your landmark of 30 Years delighting students and parents alike in ART!
