Was wondering if the waterline crew were ever going to get the pipe in the ground - how cool that we have our park back!

As for the politicians coming for the photo op, not so cool. The county supervisors, including Rose Gibson, put our county into a financial disaster over the last eight years to the point where they proposed closing our public parks - and they would have if the Friends and others hadn't made a big stink over it. Sorry supervisors - and Sacramento too - you should work at your desks and keep a low profile.

Bah Humbug! By calling attention to the need for funds and man hours to keep Flood Park open Supervisor Gibson and Assemblyman Gordon are doing their jobs. Their jobs include getting out and meeting their constituents in addition to all the behind the scenes desk work that their jobs entail. Doesn't anything make you happy, Mr. Riggs?

While I don't often agree with Mr. Riggs (though I always respect that he uses his real name), he has a point. County Supervisors did nothing to even inform the neighbors that the park might be closed, let alone show interest in the neighbors' concerns.

When the County Parks representatives joined a neighborhood meeting in April they were very clear that they wold not budge on their decision to recommend the Park's closure. The only response that neighbors got from Gibson was an email form letter response assuring us that crime would not be an issue while the park was closed.

Now that Friends has shown some potential to raise money, the County has perked up it's ears and representatives are starting to show their faces.

Forget 6 months of temporary re-opening. How are we going to keep this park open forever - and turn it back into the community gem it once was?

Private/Public partnership to develop a small portion of the land and turn the rest into a park we can be proud of? City of Menlo Park taking ownership? We need a sustainable plan.

Occupy Flood Park, and welcome all residents, politicians, and others who recognize our need to preserve, protect, and nurture all public open space, not close it down!
