How it all started

In 1949 the Peninsula Housing Association began the development of Ladera as a cooperative community. Here the first structures rise on the corner of Aliso Way and La Cuesta Drive. The building on the right was the sales office. ==I Photo courtesy of Portola Valley Archives.==

The initial core group consisted of mainly Stanford faculty. Good idea for a start, but the real world caught up with them. Hare, Brewer and Kelley (Old time local real estate firm)- Rye Kelley especially was the guiding light, in making Ladera a success.
Suggestion, do some in-depth research and then write the story. HBK also developed Lindenwood in Atherton and Pajaro Dunes on Monterey Bay.
