Peter Carpenter is a registered user.

This was predicted at the time that the rates were last set. The Town entered into a very bad 10 year contract with Recology that virtually guarantees that Recology will recover its costs plus a profit.

There is nothing that can be done now expect make sure that the new rates will a) cover that cost and b) be structured in such a way that each individual customer pays their actual costs so that one set of customers is not subsidizing another set of customers. The increased charges for green-waste carts is a step in the right direction.

My house, two people, generates less than one cubic foot of trash per week. The rest is recycling; we could delver it all to the Shoreway transfer facility. With the latest raise to cover those $75k/year drivers and their robot trucks, maybe that's the answer.
