One former employee from the San Mateo County sheriff's office has been interviewed by the FBI agents. Another current employee has expressed his willingness to be interviewed.

Since there is no evidence that the reported FBI investigation is indeed a hoax I urge the Almanac's editors to change the title of the topic to something more accurate.

Something like "Was the FBI investigation of Atherton a hoax?" would be accurate.

The FBI Offices have new carpeting. They were installing it when I was interviewed. It's the thin blue kind that come in squares with a sort of a salt and pepper look. Purchasing agents are fond of that kind of carpeting because it's cheap and simple.

There may be something that comes of the FBI investigation and then again there may not be. The g-men and women work in mysterious ways.

Interesting that people want the headline changed to possibly a hoax, when there was never any factual info about an investigation in the first place. Right now whole issue is based an innuendo and rumors. I say we will never here about any investigation.

Yes, in fact when I was interviewed the barbells from the weights were located along the walls in the corridor because the weight room was being re-carpeted.

So if JT wants to put his mind at ease, perhaps he should inquire as to whether or not the FBI's offices were being re-carpeted and if so what color was used. That would tell JT whether or not you and I were summoned to the FBI offices at least.

JT doesn't seem to be thinking this alleged "hoax" through too well. Does JT really think that Mr. Johns & company would risk civil action against them & perhaps criminal action for starting & perpetuating rumors about an FBI investigation, taking advantage of the FBI's well known inability to comment about something happening/not happening?

That seems to me a mighty big risk for people to take. I can't imagine someone like Peter Carpenter making stuff up given how much he'd be risking - & he'd be risking more than himself. I'm assuming the similar, if not the same for Mr. Johns.

IIRC, the FBI looked into E. Palo Alto PD on & off for a good number of years - & that's just what the public knows. We don't know what else they did/didn't look into. Extrapolate that to SM County - that's my suggestion.
