As a Prius-driving resident that lives near this intersection, I can imagine exactly how this happened...

I love my car, except for one thing... blind spots. The windshield is very far forward of the driver, which causes the front-most pillar (between windshield and front door) to create a blind spot up the road that interferes with seeing pedestrians waiting at the curb or entering the street. I'm aware of the blind spots and make a point of moving my head side-to-side to look around the pillar, but some people are surely not as careful.

Drivers, please be more careful.

I was going to say, Prius drivers are the worst drivers out there. I have been cut off by so many, they are dangerous in parking lots especially to pedestrians, and especially when reversing.

I try and give them a wide birth and stay away. They are an accident waiting to happen!

Willow, is it really that all Prius drivers are dangerous? Or is it that a) there are a lot of Priuses out there (Prii?) so some percentage of them are driven badly and b) that we pedestrians have trained ourselves to listen, not look, for cars? Priuses are silent at 5 mph or below, as any good fan of "The Office" will know.

Not blaming the pedestrian in this case at all, but I don't buy this Prius-hating trend. I'm frankly more concerned about people talking or typing on their cellphones.
