Elected Official Compensation

Original post made by Benefit Watcher, another community, on Aug 1, 2011

Intriguing data courtesy of the LA Times. They have a recap of all general law cities and the amount paid to council members.

Apparently, MP, EPA, and Atherton are legally bound to the State guideline for compensation. But, with special committee pay and other benefits, Menlo Park appears to be in violation.

Menlo Park $12,191 $26,799
East Palo Alto $12,191 $4,440
Atherton $12,191 $0
Redwood City $24,382 $18,916 (not bound to guideline)

The first number is the state guideline, the second is actual (2009 data).

The accounting is here: Web Link

No data reported for the Menlo Park Fire District ...

How about the Sequoia Healthcare District Directors who just voted themselves an increase in health insurance premiums to $1,500/month ($18,000/year) Web Link
