Peninsula Volunteers, Inc. (PVI) is pleased to announce the opening of its Alzheimer’s Café. Based on the pioneering work of Dutch psychologists, based on the idea that people with dementia deserve to enjoy life as much as anyone else. Only the second of its kind in California, the Alzheimer’s Café brings together people living with dementia, their families, and their caregivers. It is a warm and inviting atmosphere that nurtures friendship and mutual support. Everyone can be themselves, share experiences, and learn from one another. There is no agenda at the Alzheimer’s Café, it is an opportunity for people to create their own, with possibilities for creative activities and a chance to just relax and enjoy each other’s company.

The Cafe is located at Peninsula Volunteers Little House, the Roslyn G. Morris Activity Center, 800 Middle Ave., Menlo Park, CA 94025. Meetings will be held on the 3rd Tuesday of every month, between the hours of 2 and 4PM. For more information, call Julie Scales, Little House Program Manager at (650) 326-2025, ext. 229. There is no cost to participate, but donations are gladly accepted.

A: Yes! Same Little House, new activity.

A: Yes! We are serving light refreshments at the Alzheimer's Cafe meetings.

We do actually have a Cafe that's open 8 AM to 1 PM daily as well, M-F, so you don't have to wait for the Alzheimer's Cafe to take advantage of Little House's lovely eating areas. The Little House Cafe also serves a 5 choice lunch every weekday from 11:30 AM to 1 PM: 2 soups, 2 entrees, salad bar, plus coffee, tea, juices and other beverages, sandwiches and snacks.

You can drink, snack, eat and relax at any of the Little House areas, including a lovely outside patio, a patio courtyard, and the Cafe itself indoors. The public is very welcome.

Coffee (the best in the Bay Area!) is only $1/cup. Most snacks are 75 cents. Lunches range from $2-$5.50, depending upon what you order. It's very tasty and we post the main dish menu online at: Web Link
