Perhaps Portola Valley should think about partnering with Menlo Park's Cert Team and or Palo Alto's Panada Group, since both border their district. If there is a major incident that affects PV only, then you would have the trained resources of neighboring areas. Residents in PV will be more concerned with their issues, than having the ability to help each other, especially with a fast moving fire, narrow streets, limited water supply, a large livestock population. One of the main problems is with limited & narrow roads, incoming resources and evacuations much share the same space, same problem Woodside has..Someone should contact the above agencies for a CETRT/Panada mutual aid program..

It should be noted that all of the CERT volunteers in Menlo Park, Atherton and East Palo Alto are trained, certified and coordinated by the Menlo Park Fire Protection District and not by the individual cities.

Does anyone have information on how to become a CERP volunteer?

Carol Parker at the Menlo Park Fire Protection District, which serves Atherton, Menlo Park, East Palo Alto and some of the unincorporated areas of San Mateo County, runs their superb CERT program.
She can be reached at carolp@menlofire.org
