Deconstructing history: old gym comes down

A worker uses a hose to control dust created by the demolition of the old gymnasium at the Menlo Park Civic Center. A new gymnastics center will rise on the site, and is due to be completed by January. ==I Almanac photo taken by Michelle Le on June 16.==

Why is it that EVERY building or even tree in the San Mateo County gets so much coverage for being historical?
It is a gymnasium.
In Omaha or Athens,they would just be considered exactly what they are.........older buildings. 130 years is less than double the age of your most fervent posters.
You must think more progressively and to the future...and this penchant so many people have about moving the structures to another area is laugable.
Take a trip to Athens or even NY and see what historical is.

I remember when the old gym burned down in the late 70's. That building was relatively new, since it replaced that structure.
