This was a trial balloon by the NLRB to see how much it could get away with. Obama is committed to the Unions and will do everything he can get away with to prop them up. And he is perfectly willing to let the U.S. Aerospace Industry tank to do it.

Boeing wanted to expand operations to South Carolina. I said expand; not relocate. The NLRB was not about to let that happen if the people would allow it to get away with this egregious abrogation of its power.

This was shameless and will not stand up in court.

The NLRB was not out to get Boeing. Boeing happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. The NLRB just wants all new jobs to go to Union workers so that the Unions can take their coerced dues and use them to fund the Obama Socialist Engine and Obama, in turn, will twist any law, break any trust, and will gleefully screw over the common man in order to uphold his loyalty to the Unions. Talk about a Culture of Corruption.

Obama was most likely born in Hawaii. I have not seen any evidence to suggest otherwise. Obama was very smart in leveraging the paranoia on the right. He was stringing them along so that the paranoia would build to a crescendo for the October 2012 surprise where with great fanfare he would reveal his authentic birth certificate much to the consternation of the right and ride that wave in for a second term. Unfortunately for Obama Donald Trump totally screwed up his timing and Obama had to burst the Right Wing bubble prematurely. By the time the election season rolls around the birth certificate fiasco will be long forgotten and hopefully in the following months so will Obama.

We continue to attack America's most prized (and few remaining) industries - oil, healthcare and now aerospace - and we wonder why our economy is sputtering and job growth is non-existent.

Observer apparently knows very little about the aerospace industry. That has never stopped her from blogging.

Boeing employs 150,000 people and had more than $3 billion in profits last year. They pay excellent wages and have excellent benefits. It is arguably one of the most successful manufacturing companies in America and, unfortunately, one of our last.

The only real "worldwide" competitor they have is Airbus Industrie which has about 50,000 employees, has never made a profit and, in fact, would not even exist if not for subsidies by host European countries.

If you want to kiss this American treasure goodbye, you do so at your own peril.

Yesterday (6/15/2011) National Right To Work Legal Defense Foundation attorneys filed Unfair Labor Practice (ULP) charges against the Machinist union (IAM) for their client Dennis Murray, who previously led a successful effort to decertify the Machinist union at Boeing’s Charleston facility.

Murray claims that the union’s current charges against Boeing and the resulting Obama appointee National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) General Counsel Lafe Solomon’s complaint against Boeing that would eliminate over 1,000 existing jobs in South Carolina are the result of retaliation against him and the workers of South Carolina by the IAM for previously voting out the union.

Has the NLRB become a tool of Big Labor as many argue? It certainly is going to extraordinary measures in this Boeing case to ignore the rights of SC employees and past NLRB rulings.

The charge against the union points out that if the IAM union hierarchy still had a presence in the South Carolina plant, then the South Carolina workers’ jobs would not be at risk.

“Workers should be free to choose whether or not to affiliate with a union and not have to worry about their jobs as a result,” said Mark Mix, President of National Right to Work. “National Right to Work is proud to stand with the courageous employees as they fight to save their jobs and prevent the devastating effects the IAM union bosses’ and the NLRB’s actions will have on their community and workers across the country.”

National Right to Work Foundation attorneys filed the charge for Boeing employee Dennis Murray, who led the effort to remove the union from the Charleston plant. Foundation attorneys also represent Murray; Cynthia Ramaker, the former president of the IAM local union which was removed from the plant; and employee Meredith Going, Sr. with a motion to intervene in the NLRB’s case against Boeing. The employees’ motion is currently pending appeal with the NLRB in Washington, D.C.

South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley (R) said President Obama made the fight over the National Labor Relations Board's lawsuit against Boeing political, not her.

"The president is the one who made this political," the first-term GOP governor said in response to a question from The Hill.

"When they stop suing companies that are trying to create jobs, we'll be quiet," Haley continued. "But as long as they're going to turn around and try to bully people, it's our job to make sure our voices are heard."

The NLRB's complaint against Boeing alleges that the company decided to build a plant to produce 787 airplanes in South Carolina in retaliation for labor strikes by workers at its Puget Sound plant near Seattle. Boeing filed a motion to dismiss the case this week. A hearing on the suit is expected to last for several weeks.

Haley memorably asked GOP presidential candidates debating in her state to weigh in on the issue. Republicans eager to curry favor in the crucial early primary state happily obliged, arguing that the complaint showed the Obama administration was too beholden to labor unions.

But speaking on a conference call with reporters Thursday, Haley said she was protecting jobs in her state, not trying to score political points for her party.


In the weeks leading up to the hearing, Haley and other prominent Republicans have sought to ratchet up pressure on the Obama administration to disavow the case. South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham (R) threatened this week to place a hold on Obama's nominee to be the next Commerce secretary, businessman John Bryson, who is a member of Boeing's board of directors.

Haley said Thursday the response from her and other Republicans was justified.

"It's absolutely amazing when a governor tries to bring jobs to her state and she has a president she has to fight every step of the way," she said. "All he is doing is making best friends with every country that wants to take these jobs from us, because that's where they're going."

Haley also predicted the Boeing lawsuit would continue to be an issue in the 2012 GOP presidential primary in South Carolina.

"Unions will be front and center," she said. "That's what the people of South Carolina want to hear, and it's what the people of the country want to hear. What is it that you're going to do on Day One about these issues?"

"Catherine Fisk, a law professor at the University of California at Irvine, said the Boeing case is similar to a string of NLRB actions going back decades in which the labor agency charged companies with shifting jobs from union to non-organized workers.

"The heart of the NLRB case (against Boeing) is that opening the South Carolina plant was done for purposes of intimidating the Washington employees from striking again or from being unduly aggressive in their wage demands," Fisk said"

NLRB should fight for big businesses, not for workers.

Look at Target - when they do their unionbusting, they use great actors to tell the target employees how evil unions are for working Americans.

"The 13-minute film, posted by Gawker this week, was designed to dissuade workers from signing up to be represented by unions. A pair of smiling spokespeople dressed like Target employees -- "Maria" and "Doug" -- warn workers that, despite what they may have heard, a union is a "business," one that is greedy for dues and will not be able to deliver on promises of higher wages. As it turns out, the video was filmed under the jurisdiction of the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (AFTRA), according to actor (and union member) Ric Reitz, who plays Target spokesman "Doug" in the film.

"If someone hires me to play a rapist, does it make me a rapist? You take the job, and you're an actor," says Reitz, a longtime member of AFTRA and the Screen Actors Guild. "Am I pro-union? Absolutely."

Reitz, 55, has had a long career in movies, television and commercials; he plays the U.S. president in the new film "The Green Lantern."

Reitz says when he got the script for the 2003 Target video, the anti-union content struck him as "very awkward." So he asked AFTRA if there was any issue. The union told him that as long as the information in the video was not "purposefully inaccurate" and Reitz was not personally taking a position, taking the job was fine, he says.

Co-starring as "Maria" in the video is Nicky Buggs, another union actor who has appeared in dozens of movies, television shows and commercials."

Unions are a great thing. We force donations so we can elect corrupt democrats who are really socialists in disguise. In the end they carry our water by raising taxes so we can live large at the expense of the over-burdened taxpayer. Such a deal!
