There's no getting around it — no mitigating measures to call upon: A developed downtown area as envisioned in Menlo Park's downtown specific plan would adversely affect local roadways and already congested intersections significantly, resulting in substantially more clogged streets and dirtier air.

As a resident of the downtown Menlo Park neighborhood, I am not excited about the prospect of even more traffic in the area. Menlo Park already places the needs of business FAR above the needs of their downtown residents. In spite of the fact that we bring regular business to local merchants WITHOUT putting more cars on the streets. It would be nice if the plans included "mitigation" that would protect residents' rights to park near their own homes.
