San Carlos to pursue hybrid fire department

The San Carlos City Council voted unanimously Monday night to begin negotiations with Redwood City to create a hybrid fire department as a cost-saving measure to reduce the city's $3.5 million budget deficit.

Sounds like the idea of a private company doing the same work at a better price could be a wake up call to both the fire service and government that maybe it's time to change the way we do business.
