One superintendent for one school! Can you imagine how much money could be saved and spent on worthwhile programs if Woodside, Menlo Park City School District, Las Lomitas, and Portola Valley would combine under one superintendent and one administration?! Under this scenerio, we could have a top-notch school district without the never-ending parcel taxes imposed on us.
It's prime time for change with both the Woodside School District and the Menlo Park City School District superintendents leaving or retiring.

Woodside has a top notch school district, paid for with years of commitment, our tax dollars and foundation support from Woodside residents. Menlo Park and Portola Valley have a similar commitment and also have wonderful schools. The remedy you suggest (combining into one district with one superintendent) hardly seems like a way to create job stability in superintendents, nor would it stop someone from taking their rightful retirement! I have to wonder if you understand what school administrators and teachers do, or the degree to which they are already overextended.

Please don't confuse teachers with administration.

Duplication of administration can and should be eliminated. In fact, doing so will allow MORE resources to be devoted to the classroom.

There is simply no economic justification for duplication of administrative staff - superintendents, business managers, HR managers, accountants, clerks - for such small, adjacent districts.

Well put Pogo and Menlo Park tax payer. The State will continue to cut funds to the districts. Yes, some parcel tax increases will pass but eventually the people will get sick of new parcel taxes and the serious cuts will come. But not until the superintendents cry wolf and use scare tactics to get parents to support their existence. Eventually, the redundancy will have to go.
