Atherton makes an El Camino intersection dangerous

Original post made by Bob, Menlo Park: Central Menlo Park, on Feb 3, 2011

Atherton recently added a right hand turn lane from Alejandra onto southbound El Camino. In doing so it drastically narrowed the entrance lane from El Camino onto Alejandra. The entrance lane is now so narrow that there is danger of hitting traffic waiting to turn north on El Camino. Additionally if you are turning left onto Alejandra from northbound El Camino watch out for the utility pole which sits inches away from the lane - the city expanded the roadway into the shoulder which contains the utility pole.
Do it properly Atherton. Since Menlo College and School traffic was causing the traffic problem which led to to the half-a** re-engineering of the lanes, why not take some land from them and put in proper lanes and move the utility pole. There must be some state regs which were ignored to create such a danger.

Nonsense Bob. Atherton got this right, nice job. Traffic flow is GREATLY improved. For those who perceive a safety issue, SLOW DOWN, and stay on the road. This is not a freeway!
