Man, 49, dies after playing basketball at Arrillaga gym

A friendly game of basketball turned tragic Monday at the Arrillaga Family Gymnasium in Menlo Park.

Truly tragic. I assume there are AED's in the new gym; if not, let's get on that!

Very tragic indeed, my heart goes out to his family.
Next step: let us insist that all the recreation staff be trained to use the AED, and know basic CPR.
These two things alone could make all the difference, and avoid any other tragedies.
As I understand it, this is the third death in the gyms - Burgess included.

It is confirmed...the gym staff are NOT trained to use the AED! What is the point of having this device if the staff cannot use it?
Please, this training should be mandatory! I am now afraid when my child's team plays at the gym.
