Original post made on Jan 20, 2011

Say what, Scanlon pulls in close to $400K with benefits, conductors pull in over $100K (note the suspended conductor accused of coming on to teen girls for "favors" in lieu of fare in last week's news, making $110K).
How much is former beat reporter Simon making from taxpayer dollars?
Ask him?
6.4 percent administrative costs below normal? Is that an independently audited figure Mark?
Let's ask Mark to fess up to the real issue?
Excessive compensation for administration and sweetheart labor union compensation packages compared to private sector.
Where's the sacrifice from more than "freeze on salaries" that are outrageously bloated to begin with? How about cutbacks in administration salaries/benefits and renegotiating union strong arm salary/benefit compensation?
Maybe they should file BK and the court will force renegotiation?

And people STILL think the High Speed Rail is a good idea? We are living in a fantasy land and the people who are getting the raw end is my younger generation (20's).

So when our Honda has trouble starting and we're scraping the barrel for gas money, we trade it in for a Ferrari...

I think we need to slow down on all these proposals. They can wait. The important issue to determine first is whather the Peninsula Corridor Joint Powers Board is following the Brown Act. Peter Carpenter, what's the word?

Based on the information in this news article it is not possible to answer your excellent question. Please feel free to post agendas, minutes, etc. that I can use to better evaluate their Brown Act compliance.

Cutting salaries by 50%, eliminating defined benefit pensions, and firing two thirds of the administrators would be a start.
