Triumphs, trials, and two cents

John Boyle and Heyward Robinson have a few things in common — both served on the Menlo Park City Council for one term. Actually, that might be where the similarities end. Operating from opposite ends of the political — and personality — spectrums, the two men frequently found themselves voting on opposite sides after heated debate.

Thanks to the Almanac for putting this article together. This kind of reflection gives a lot more context than the usual focus on one topic (often just the minutiae of one topic).

Although John and Heyward are obviously very different people, I thought they both served the city well, so thanks to them also. With all the mudslinging that can go on, it's sometimes surprising that people volunteer to be on the Council. Let's hope John and Heyward both stay involved in city affairs in a positive way.
