Street Sweeping or Lack Thereof

Original post made by Bob, Menlo Park: Central Menlo Park, on Jan 7, 2011

An open letter to the Menlo Park City Council and City Manager-
A long time ago someone in their infinite wisdom decided our streets should be cleaned in the middle of the day so that the sweepers could avoid cleaning the dirtiest part of the streets - along the curbs.
Someone in city hall just doesn't realize that residents and visitors park their cars on the streets during the day time as do contractors, gardeners etc.
But lo and behold Menlo Park forbids parking on those very same residential streets from 2am to 5am which basically means no one is parked on those streets from midnight to 6am.
Come on guys, get with it - change the street sweeping to the middle of the night so we can have clean streets - otherwise help out the budget and cancel the useless current contract.
As to garbage pickup - just coordinate the cleaning streets with the non-pickup days.
