Since Monday, November 15, the students, staff and parents of Menlo-Atherton High School have been working towards the school goal of collecting over 60,000 cans and other non-perishable items. In cooperation with Second Harvest Food Bank and with the warm support of Trader Joe's of Menlo Park, the Safeways in Menlo Park and Redwood City (El Camino, Sharon Heights and Sequoia Station), Whole Foods of Palo Alto and Menlo Park, Robert’s, Bianchini’s and Key Market #6 of Redwood City, we are now ready to feed over 400 Menlo-Atherton families and local community members. Members of the Menlo-Atherton family have spent countless hours asking for non-perishable food items and monetary donations while canning in front of the various local grocery stores and in our local neighborhoods.
With the help of students, staff and parents, we will be boxing, bagging and distributing the food at Ecumenical Hunger in East Palo Alto this Saturday, December 11 from 9:00am-12:00pm. The exchange is something to behold. This act of kindness brings the community together in a positive way that creates the holiday spirit we all need to see.
