Atherton: Housing rules given preliminary OK

The City Council has given the nod to zoning ordinance amendments that will allow Atherton residents to build second dwelling units that encroach slightly into the existing setbacks of their lots, and exceed certain floor-area limits.

Now I know how New England colonists must have felt when, against their will, King George III quartered British redcoats in their homes . . .

These changes permit homeowners do do things, they do not require them to do anything.

No King George here - just a red herring.
