#3 A Call for a Grand Jury Investigation of the Atherton POA

Original post made by gravely concerned, Atherton: West of Alameda, on Nov 22, 2010

There used to be a time when the Atherton POA would solicit contributions at busy intersections in town during the holiday season.

Members of the POA still have their hands out. However acting on orders from above, they are far more discreet these days.

Renee Batti has asked for evidence of the very serious allegations that have been leveled on this forum against the San Mateo County DA and its collusion with the Atherton POA.

Renee Batti and her paper have been given evidence in the past of such misconduct. She and her paper have ignored the evidence they have been given.

What reason do the readers this forum that this time will be any different?

I make this post unregistered and anonymously because I fear retaliation. I have received an unwelcome visit from the police in the past on false pretenses. I do not want to be disturbed at my home again.

If Renee Batti wants a lead on a story to pursue, she can ask around as to why Sherman Hall was bounced from the REACT task force.

There needs to be an audit of management of the entire San Mateo DA's office. As my post about the internal investigations into one of Wagstaffe's prosecutors for making false statements was deleted here because there was no evidence, I just emailed Renee Batti with some "evidence. "

Also, readers of the very high trafficked nationa web site Websleuths, have been complaining with impunity about the DA's mishandling of the Dr. William Ayres child molestation case for months. People from all over the country with no ties to San Mateo have been writing to Fox and Wagstaffe about the prosecutor on the case. They had legitimate concerns, and were truly alarmed about what is going on, but no one ever received a response from the DA's office.

People here should take a look about what others around the country are saying about Fox, Wagstaffe and more here. The focus on them starts on page twelve in the Dr. Ayres thread at Websleuths:

I think the DA's office is going to implode. Soon.

Someone called "Belinda" from Maryland posted the letter of complaint she wrote to Steve Wagstaffe over at Websleuths. You can see it on page 12 of the link posted above. Two lines of her letter jump out at me in particular.
Belinda wrote,"Are you unable to manage your office? Should you really be in the position you are in, if you have no control over your employees?"

Belinda has never even set foot in San Mateo and yet she, like others from around the country, has been able to accurately assess the alarming state of affairs in the San Mateo DA's office.

Can you really blame Renee Batti and the Almanac News for looking the other way?

I certainly do not. Look what happened to Bothun.

Sometimes its better to let sleeping dogs lie.

If you can't afford to hire a good attorney, then stay quite or move to another county.

Big Thank you and with admiration for the Almanac, for the open mind of on this important issue. This situation has simmered away unchecked for decades without being successfully questioned by either the voters or the press, and when ever any lone voice has tried to air the issue they have been severely crushed. This is the perfect moment, with change at the top, for everyone to participate in insuring that any correction has at least the opportunity to occur.
Even if you have not had your own first hand bad experience with the DA's office or don't know someone who has, then think of the poor judges who have to try to cooperate with this dysfunctional office as a partner. I believe the judiciary is begging for help.
Who knows, maybe even our new DA would secretly appreciate some support from the public in turning over a new leaf, by us all helping to clean up the mess he has inherited. Any DA can easily become isolated in a world surrounded by only police interests and union pressures. This is a perfect moment for everyone to try get a message through those barriers which have come to obstruct too much of the public trust. If you are not worried already, think about who Wagstaffe might appoint to replace himself as DDA now that he is going to be boss!

Bob, asked

Regarding Mike Stogner comment -

Does Sloan Citron's the WAMP still exist?

The WAMP is gone, It does not exist. The bright young editor Ashley Steyaert is gone, what a shame she made a big impact on the Woodside High School students. The subject matter was to serious, not silly enough, caused some people to steal the paper from the boxes the first night of publication...10/8-14/2010
