I urge my fellow residents of Atherton and all residents of San Mateo County to request the FY 2010-11 San Mateo County Civil Grand Jury investigate the relationship between the Atherton POA and the San Mateo County Office of the District Attorney.
There are troubling indications that the District Attorney has abused its prosecutorial discretion as a way of shielding members of the Atherton POA from being held accountable for misconduct while seeking to punish those whom the POA sees as its enemies.
Two recent examples are the case of Troy Henderson, an african american public works supervisor who was subject to a criminal trial on charges of battery. This case should never have gone to trial. It was clear from the outset that the video tape evidence was orchestrated by the complainant to buttress her civil case against the Town.
Another example was the DA's refusal to investiage the Jon Buckheit falsified police report. The DA says it needs a copy of the Police report. This is nonsense. The DA was right there in open court as were members of the public when Tony Dennis made this shocking admision.
What is worse, Lisa Coburn, the prosecutor in the case knew about this felony even bere Dennis testified, yet failed to disclose it to Jon Buckheit's attorney.
Is justice blind in San Mateo County?
There are troubling indications that it is not.
Steve Wagstaffe and his deputies should be subject to tough questions by the Civil Grand Jury.
Please contact the Grand Jury at your earliest opportunity. All communications with the Grand Jury are confidential.
