Question posed to Atherton. Lets see who answers.

Original post made by Colleen Anderson, Atherton: West Atherton, on Oct 28, 2010

1) Why did we pay out to Pilar Buckley $250,000 without even a deposition? [Portion removed]

2) Why did we have to pay almost $8,000.00 dollars out to Jon Buckheit attorney for him to get his police report?

3) Why aren't we looking into Jon Buckheits factual innocents issue regarding a police report being changed? I have a copy of the transcripts if they would like to see it.

4) Why do 28 homes in Atherton have a second story restriction? Out of those 28 homes some do not fit the current standards? 44 Parker Ave has totally different setbacks? There are 2,333 homes in total for Atherton. Why are you not treating the 28 homes the same?

5) How is it some homes in Atherton have to follow the current code enforcement rules, and others do not?

6) How was Kimbery Sweldys house signed off on by our planning department?

7) Why did John Johns offer to settle for $10,000 dollars, and we ended up paying $619,000 dollars.

8) How did the urns end up costing us ... How much and why?

Please answer my questions. There are a number of us that want to now the truth.

For those of you that do not know me I stand for finding out the truth. My husband was born, and raised here. I moved here when I was 10. We love this town. It is our childhood on up. I have always lived the dream of growing up & living in Atherton. I love the line out of the Bet Milder movie " Atherton You don't know where Atherton is" Please people take the time to care. Find out the truth about our town. It is only the last couple of years we have had these problems. I went to the minister of my church this week to ask him what to do and pray about our town. I thought I was fine until I walked trough his door and busted out into tears. I told him everything going on in Atherton as I knew it. I asked him to meet with certain people hoping for peace. He said he would pray, but didn't see how he could make much difference. We decided to pray for my husband, myself, and our town, and that's how we left it. What set me back is the fact he wasn't willing to get involved except for to pray. Please keep in mind I from the bottom of my heart believe in prayer, but God hasn't answered some of my prayers that have been his will. I sometimes do not get Gods will, but I truly question it. A minister not willing to meet with certain people of our town? What does that say? Please people pray. Seek truth. I am not sure where God is in my life right now, but I am asking you to keep the faith for me. Have you ever been so sad you can't pray any more, and asked others to pray for you. I am lost. I feel very alone right now. Please pray for me and our town. Please I am just lost right now, and am asking all of you to pray for truth. I am feeling my prayers to God are falling on deaf ears. Help me. Please Pray for truth. I am done & heart sick at what is going on. HELP. !!! I need you now more than ever. Reach out to have our questions heard.

Colleen:

I don't remember where I heard it, but God answers all prayers. Sometimes the answer is "no."

There is usually a reason. Usaully something we have to learn.

Ms.Anderson.....Your posts and emails are always interesting and provocative, and show some sort of humanity and honesty as a person and not a political activist or "expert on all things". So,I regard your questions asking for answers as appropriate and deserving of some kind of answers or even direct responses.
I am a fifth generation San Franciscan, and though we lived in Presidio Heights, I was part of the 50's and 60's generation growing up surrounded by masses of politicians both locally and the capital as well as Sacramento. We often had the police chiefs sitting with us and sharing large tables with what PENINSULANS would deem "unsavory types" because of their supposed connections with big crime, banking and the biggest names going back to the gold rush.
Atherton was fun for me, a topped rank player and all city, who also belonged to the Burlingame Tennis Club....an excuse to weekend out of town where Atherton also was known, like much of the Peninsula, as the place "mob types" built mansions and who were active socially in S.F. as well as big banking, building and, politics. My family stayed in the Presidio house and got into the Consular Corps which was where most of the "socializing" occured with out of town big wigs during the 60's and 70's and my parents were friends of the Reagans and I was studying abroad and anti Republican and enjoying the taste of life outside of California.....which I recommend to all Americans.
Now to explain why I give you a b.g. on your favorite and always very beautiful town, along with all of the grand multimillion dollar homes which our friends had built there as the cities began to grow and kind of ruin it for privacy for our more sophisticated and worldly city crowd who now traveled abroad and just kept those homes which began to attract the new wave of politicians and, more accurately, the "group" to whom you addressed your very direct email with questions you felt are unanswered. The response you got, was from the
evasive, but, "clubby" Menlo Voter, who basically dumped on you as most of those who do not want confrontation involving their interests are prone to do.
What I am saying is, that no matter how corrupt the people were while I was growing up in the City, they were way "out front" with their views and answers than the "new group" which I consider far more dangerous for the way they operate, hold back and all attack using even this ALMANAC for their voice to transmit, to divide, to leave your questions unanswered, BLOCK emails as OFF TOPIC way too often for my tastes, and am telling you bluntly, that when you are put off by Menlo Voters reply above, it is more than an insult. It is talking down to you. It is rude.It is covering something up. It is something that they do not want asked and which the editor could NOT help but let run, but, as you can see, left you with not one satisfying response.
From the little leakage of corruption you HAVE read about the CORRIDOR of Peninsula cities, you know that a lot more of it CORRUPTION exists, dishonesty prevails, and that those who are involved are not long time residents such as you or they would be behind you to find out the truth, or just get answers. They are not a very shophisticated brand of politicians. They are small time compared to the rest of the world. You must go to higher places to find your answers.Sacramento is VERY aware of your area. Some of the people are "friends" of the MV and his cronies. They are small potatos.
The election will not get rid of them but may force a change in how they must play their hands in the future.
I HAVE BEEN BLOCKED TWICE BUT PHOTOGRAPHED MY REPLY IF THEY DO IT AGAIN...STILL ON A RETAINER
