Boy, this is going to be a very interesting election cycle. Let's hope that the candidates and their supporters stick to the issues and do not make it personal. Let the games begin ...

Has each/any of the candidates stated her/his position on the pending Specific Plan? Who is in favor of it?

Councilman Cohen is against the specific plan.

Robinson and Cline strongly support. They strongly support Measure T, the Menlo Gateway project, whereas Cohen is opposed and voted against approving it.To make matters even more interesting is the relationship between candidate Keith and Fergusson; it isn't friendly. thus you didn't see Robinson endorse Keith.

We already have one council person who lives on that culdesac.
2 of the candidates live a block or so away on the same culdesac.
Isn't that over representation of one short street?
Not that there's any law against it, but a tad coincidental.
Don't know if they would have the same sensitivity, and motivation, to reduce cut through traffic on other neighborhood streets in the Willows and West Menlo from commercial development . Just wondering.

Dear "OAk Court Dominance":

It's WORSE than that! Actually, there are two candidates from Oak Court this time: Kirsten Keith and Chuck Bernstein. And yes, that's the same street as Kelly Fergusson lives on.

But don't worry. There is no way Berstein is going to get elected - he is just not tempermentally suited to be a Councilmember, and his core No Growth views are really only shared by a fairly small minority in Menlo Park.

Kirsten Keith might possibly squeak in, but so far she is running a pretty weak campaign and it's too hard to figure out where she stands on many things. She is more of a classic politician, and that's really not what we need up there.

Seems more likely that Rich Cline and Heyward Robinson who have the widest cross section of endorsers will be re-elected and joined by Peter Ohtaki as a decent replacement for John Boyle.

Huh? Andy Cohen is endorsing Kirsten Keith? SHe's for Gateway and the Downtown Visioning Process (which Andy originally supported)... Hardly a match made in heaven.

I thought Morris Brown recruited Russ Peterson (an HSR opposition leader) to run, so the question is, why isn't Andy supporting Russ Peterson too?

But hey, Kelly encouraged Kirsten Keith to run, yet Kelly has not endorsed her. So things are getting kinda strange...

When you look at endorsements though, Both Ruch Cline and Heyward Robinson have far and away the most overall endorsers, and not all of the same stripe, either - consistent with their basically moderate positions.

Morris Brown certainly did not encourage Russ Peterson to run. I was as surprised as anyone when he took out papers.
