If those rich horsey types want to waste that much cash, the least they could do would be to provide a job in California, not Colorado.

Ano Nymous -
That's the beauty of private funding. You get to buy what you want, where you want, from whoever you want. The people writing the checks don't owe explanations to anyone.
You want to support a local artist? Go buy something...

Good idea. Perhaps we'll place a (California-made) bicycle up there, to reflect the modern Woodside lifestyle. (What the heck is an "equestrian lifestyle" anyway? Making a poor animal cart your butt around, and getting someone else to clean up the mess?)

I think you should go for it.
Put your money, effort and time where your big mouth is.

Those "rich horsey types" no longer exist in Woodside, which is kind of amusing.
Most live in Southern California in Pasadena, a "blue blood" area that Woodsiders aspire to be.
In the 1980's when the "sport of kings" and the last bastion of truly a place where blue blooded sportsmen did not worry about gangsters, and the krill of the underworld began infiltrating the racing world.
Those bronze horses are so out of place today as are the new haute monde whose money is as new as their homes.
Not to be depressed however, because Pasadena now has some pretty gnarly low life mixing in with the elite.

You've totally missed Woodside if you think any of us "aspire" to be bluebloods. That's actually laughable. You couldn't be further from the truth.
And I'll take Woodside over Pasadena anytime. I even prefer our May Day Parade to their New Year's Day extravaganza.

Well, from your attitude, they wouldn't probably like you in their "set" anyway.
I think the homes in the best part of Pasadena far superior in taste and quality and grandeur with real History. The Pasadena you are talking about is sort of equivalent to all cities built around Woodside who squabble over markets and liquor stores.

To paraphrase Groucho, I probably wouldn't want to belong to any club that would have me as a member.
And while I appreciate your primer about Pasadena's neighborhoods, I'm pretty familiar with the area. I've stayed at The Huntington many times...
