I noticed on the San Mateo County Shape the Future site this morning that a 4th candidate has entered the race. I hope to see a candidate's forum and that there will be opportunities to hear from all the candidates on their views about the district and its future directions.

It's nice to see an actual choice in the candidates for school board this time around. I for one am tired of the school board being filled with MPAEF candidates, who usually run for board positions unopposed. A separation between those making decisions which impact all students the in MPCSD schools and those insiders raising supplemental funds for the district is healthy.

There have been fourth (ie non-handpicked) candidates in the MPCSD race before. That hapless person inevitably gets hammered, and the three handpicked candidates always win. Always.
Laura, Terry, and Joan are all smart, talented women, but it sure would be nice to have a board that wasn't such a closed clique.
