There needs to be a way to address the asthetic concerns of the Westridge residents and balance that with the lack of cell phone access in this area. When my land line goes out from time to time and especially during winter storms, I have no emergency telephone access. My cell phone works only intermittently at best and it is inconceivable to me that we would permit our residents to be without cell phone access that the tower will provide. It puts us at risk. I have heard countless stories of emergency situations from my neighbors that are completely unnecessary. Let's get this done before our lack of foresight has us all reading about an unfortunate incident involving one of our neighbors in the news.

Don't understand what the big issue is.

They are no uglier than power poles.

No one complains about these or petitions that their neighbor can't have one.

It is ridiculous that a bunch of Luddites could persuade the council to vote against a cell tower. Richard Zeren of Ladera, for example, is in favor of banning cell towers. Perhaps he is fortunate enough to live in an area with good reception and so can afford to decry the ugliness of towers or claim they are a health hazard.

Since well documented research over many years has found no sound, scientifically based reason to be concerned about the particular radio waves from cell towers, there is no good reason to vote against them. There is, however, the usual ill-founded hysteria from so-called environmentalists who seek to find bogey men in every technological advance.

I'm disappointed by the hypocrisy of people who, I am sure, own and use cell phones. While enjoying the benefits of cell phone use, they are happy to let others live near cell tower--NIMBYism at its best.
