Wrong again Almanac - It was the Bayshore HIGHWAY. The Bayshore FREEWAY which replaced the HIGHWAY was begun in the 1940's with the stretch from Peninsula Ave (Burlingame) to SoSF. The section thru Menlo Park wasn't finished until the mid to late 1950's.
