MP Strikers Under 11 Boys Win NorCal Cross Regionals

Original post made by J Morgan, Atherton: West Atherton, on Jun 7, 2010

The MP Strikers Under 11 Boys Premier soccer team won the NorCal Cross Regionals title this weekend in Union City. The single elimination play-off tournament matched the top 8 teams in Northern California in bracket play to determine the top team for spring 2010.

The MP Strikers 98B Blue team, coached by Alessandro Biral, entered the weekend play-off as the number two ranked seed out of over 80 teams playing NorCal Premier soccer this spring. The MP boys started out strong with a 7-2 win over the #7 ranked Turlock Milan Forza. The Strikers then faced a tough and physical opponent in round two but bested the San Juan Spirits by a score of 2-1 in overtime play. In the final match, the MP Strikers faced local rival PAC Atlas of San Jose. After losing to PAC Atlas in the State Cup finals earlier this year, the Strikers under 11 boys dominated play and came out on top, ending PAC's 10 month unbeaten streak and winning the match 4-2 to take the NorCal Cross Regionals crown.
