Atherton burglary suspect sentenced to jail

A San Mateo County judge has handed down a sentence of six months in jail to Beata Wyszynska, 59, who Atherton police apprehended in February as she tried to leave a home through a broken window, prosecutors said.

Call her the Atherton burgler - she's been tried and convicted. Suspects don't get sentenced, only convicted criminals.

In this particular case, yes, it is very simple. As to the burglar's motives - I'm sure there are reams of complicated backstory worthy of understanding. That's a separate issue. My comment was directed at the weaseling headline; the lawsuit-driven use of the term "suspect," when, in fact, there is no longer a suspect, only a convicted and sentenced criminal.
