Jerry Carlson missed a singular opportunity to clean house. Instead, Jerry Carlson fretted over his own image. Jerry Carlson whined about how hard he works. I have news for you Jerry, it is not how hard you work, it is whether or not you acheive something during those supposedly long hours of toil.
Jerry Carlson is a failure as a Councilman.
Jerry Carlson does not deserve your vote if he runs again for City Coucil. If Jerry Carlson does run again I will go from door to door, I will speak at luncheons, I will speak on streetcorners, I will speak in Town Hall, I will speak at Hollbrook Palmer Park. I tell the story of how Jerry Carlson not only threw Kathy McKeithen under the bus, he threw me under the bus.
It was Jerry Carlson who, on July 20, 2006 called for an audit of the Building Department.
It was Jerry Carlson who stood silent just three months later during the September 20th, City Council when one of the many who received illegal favors from the Building Department made a public show of launching a recall campaign, against Kathy McKeithen in retaliation for the Phase III audit that I was conducting at the time.
Jerry Carlson lacked the moral courage to object to the recall campaign. He lacked the courage to take responsibility for his own actions. Rather than set the record straight and to remind everyone that it wasn't Kathy that called for the audit of the Building Department it was Jerry Carlson he remained silent. No Jerry Carlson held his nose and looked the other way.
On the evening of September 7th, 2007 Jerry Carlson refused to sign a letter signed by each and every member of the Atherton Audit Committee objecting to my suspension as an act of whistleblower retaliation. Once again, Jerry Carlson held his nose and looked the other way.
Jerry Carlson does not deserve to be your councilman. Athertonians deserve better than one who makes a habit of abandoning their principles, their colleagues and those who serve him, for the sake of his own carefully manicured image.
Jerry Carlson voted month after month to continue the Town's legal battle with me. For every dollar I spent, the Town spent three. Jerry Carlson would have you believe that it was prudent to sign away $1.6 million in road impact fees just because two residents threatened to sue the Town without a single deposition.
Can you honestly believe that his decision was wise all the while agreeing to spending $400,000 on my case only to have to cough up $225,000 in back pay to me and a belated resolution of commendation.
If you run for City Council Mr. Carlson, I will make it my mission that you go down in defeat, because you have shown yourself unworthy of serving on this Town's governing body. You have bankrupted this town morally and financially.
