My Thanks to the City Council

Original post made by John P Johns, CPA, another community, on Apr 8, 2010

In addressing the City Council last night I expressed my heartfelt gratitude for having agreed to settle its lawsuit with me.

In particular I expressed appreciation for agreeing to issue me a letter of commendation by Council resolution for the good work I did as the Town's finance director.

With words on paper, with the stroke of a pen, the City Council will have repaired my reputation and it will have restored my good name.

Atherton has been subject to allegations of improper conduct by its elected officials, including those I brought to light during and subsequent to my tenure.

I would like those concerns to be set aside for the moment and to reflect upon the fact that a majority of the City Council and as such the Council as a whole has made amends to me. The City Council by resolution has recognized the error made by the previous administration and has reversed that mistake.

I am grateful to have been of service to Atherton and to finally have left on good terms.

I sincerely hope that my efforts to make Atherton a better place will have a lasting impact.

The fact you remained dignified through the entire ordeal is exemplary and you are now free to move on. You should be thanked and apologies should be coming your way.
As usual, there are those who still do not want to admit there are a lot of people doing bad things by abusing the system. It was your job to do what you did, and you have more people pulling for you than not.
