I too was scandalized by Jerry Carlson's reaction.

I have known Jerry for many years. I thought of him as my friend. He is not a friend for he has betrayed the values I hold dear to me.

I voted for Jerry Carlson because I believed that he would work towards making Atherton a better place. I thought Jerry would have a lasting and positive impact. I thought he was about integrity.

I was heartened when Jerry Carlson he called for an audit of the building department.

I was discouraged however, when he did not speak out publicly in objection to the recall campaign of Kathy McKeithen. This recall campaign was in retaliation for Kathy's efforts to clean up the Building Department.

I kept my faith in Jerry Carlson however because I though he was working behind the scenes to support Kathy.

I was wrong.

Jerry Carlson has once again turned on those whom I thought bo be his natural allies on the City Council. Kathy McKeithen and Jim Dobbie. In doing so, Jerry Carlson has shown his true colors.

Jerry Carlson has the backbone of a chocolate eclair. He has not a man of principle as he has advertised.

While people like McKeithen and Dobbie stand and deliver, Carlson runs and hides.

Jerry Carlson is a disgrace. He is nothing more than another clown in three ring circus that has become Atherton politics. He is a puppet who's strings are being pulled and he doesn't even know it. Worse he knows it and does not care.

These are harsh words. I take no pleasure in lashing out against a former friend.

I am deeply disappointed that I have lost an ally in the fight against public corrpution. I hope a better man or woman takes his place on the Council next November.

Mr. Jerry Carlson stated recently in a March 17, 2010 meeting.

I see no reason for the Police Review Committee. Given my understanding of the facts of the situation I found Mr. Carlson's statement nothing less than astounding.

Now - Lets review, Slowly.....no...Very Slowly

A Police Officer employed by the Town of Atherton has committed a felony against Mr. Jon Buckheit. This is a FACT not an allegation. I have reason to beleive Mr Carlson is aware of this fact based on the three public meetings that Mr. Buckheit and I have presented this information to the council. We have requested the City Manager and Police Chief identify the officer and have a criminal complaint submitted to the District Attorney of San Mateo County.

How one gets from the facts of this case to the conclusion that there is nothing wrong is a human phenomenon which surpasses my ability to explicate.

I don't know what else to say. I really don't.

I used to think that Mr. Jerry Carlson was a force for ethics in the Town.

He supported the Building Audit and sided with Ms. McKeithen on numerous reform positions.

But when the balance of power shifted, he suddenly reset his sails and voted predominantly with the Realty/Builder/Developer coalition of Marsala and Lewis and confused me.

Now, I have concluded that his real allegiance is the protection of the reputation of the Town's public image...the primary agenda of the ACIL. He sees himself as being the focal point, the deciding vote, the moderation influence.

More than anything, I have come to believe he serves those who desire beyond any other agenda, the suppression of controversy and any issue that might lead to the revelation of wrong doing on the part of anyone in Town government.

The problem with this concept is that it inevitably lead to the creation of an unholy allegiance with possible criminal, miscreant or at best, negligent conduct of elected, appointed and employed officials in the town - a publicly unspoken policy of suppression of the reality of what is so.

The refusal of the ruling elite of Atherton which surrounds the elected, appointed and employed government to cease protecting the reputation of the Town at all costs, is exactly what is causing the increase of difficulties which leak more and more to the surface.

It is a simple law of Karma: That which you resist and fear the most is created by your fear and resistance.

It is the governmental mechanics of this town, designed for personal elitist ruling preference in a very different time, designed to be weak and easily influenced, that is, in and of itself, the real issue. It is not the circumstances, nor the personalities of this time.

Nothing less that a re-design of the Charter of the structure of the government will give any of you the relief you so obviously long for.

Mr. Carlson is but a symptom. He is not the condition itself

There are wise eyes, both in agreement and fear of these words, which read and comprehend their accuracy.

Jerry Carlson cares most about how the public views him.

Jerry Carlson is radioactive, he is contaminated by the image of Marsala and his failure to object to Marsala's abuse of his position.

No, Jerry Carlson would prefer to snipe at McKeithen without mentioning her by name.

I say take Jerry Carlson out with the rest of yesterday's trash.
