What a relief! My daughter used to be a class mate of Jennifer and I can't imagine what Jennifer's family must have gone through. All the best for the future for all of them!

I sure hope that there is some explanation to all of the surrounding communities for the prayers and deep concern we all felt for the Blairs, and their whole family. This kind of thing is not taken lightly, and for three weeks, we all struggled with how to make our communities safer. Its a helplessness that affects us all, so I hope that this event brings something to light for all of us. In particular, I hope Jennifer gets some help, and that she may help us to then understand. That being said, it is wonderful, and a huge relief to hear she is safe and back where she can prosper. Please make something of the second chance dear girl.

It's great she is safe and sound back home. But she still has a lot of explaining to do as to why she left in the first place. Leaving her friends family and neighbors worried sick when she was gone for 3 weeks. I am glad she's back but I hope she gets grounded for life after that stunt she pulled.

No explanation needed, and please, let's not give advice about what should or shouldn't happen. Jennifer and her family have enough to deal with now. We're just glad she's home and is safe.

Please remember that she's a 15 year old kid. Not everyone has life completely figured out at that age, unlike 'marie' and 'Los Altos mom' apparently did.

It would be helpful to all of us as parents of teenage girls to know how and why this happened. Jennifer got a lot of attention for this event, and has now accumulated over 100 new "friends" on her facebook page as a result. There is a danger that other lonely girls might try to get the same attention if there is not some sort of explanation provided as to how and why she got so far away, and what happened to her while gone. It is a huge relief that she is home and safe and I hope for her and her family that she stays there and works things out. jennifer applogized to her friends on facebook for them being "bugged by the cops", but there was no appology for what she put her friends and family through for the ordeal. I hope she gets the help she clearly needs.

That is a very good point, Mom. To those of you who feel the need to make sanctimonious comments about what should and shouldn't be said on this forum, may I remind you that the community was recruited to help find the girl. The police called every home, there was a billboard on 101, the schools sent out multiple emails, newspapers ran articles. This ceased being a private none-of-your-business issue a long time ago.

While the public may not have any say in what the family chooses to do, there are lessons to be learned -- and copycat runaways to be avoided. What can we, as parents and as community members, do to prevent a repeat?

The girl did not ask the "community" to get riled up so how is she now responsible to that community as to providing an explanation of her actions. Obviously she is not. Community members have no right to demand it or even suggest it. If community members want to turn the episode into a learning opportunity for themselves they must do so without insisting that the girl or her parents are so obliged.

Scholar needs to learn to punctuate! When a community is asked via flyer, freeway sign, newspaper articles and phone calls from the police department to look for a runaway girl, then it sort of ceases to be a private matter. Check out Jennifer's facebook postings for a complete flaunting of the entire situation. No one is "insiting" on anything but she is turning it into some grand adventure rather than the heartbreaking event it was to her family and friends, and fearful situation (perhaps she was taken against her will) for the rest of the community. Something more needs to be said other than her disrespectful facebook comments about the police department that looked tirelessly for her for 3 and a half weeks.
