Original post made by J Morgan, Atherton: West Atherton, on Jan 18, 2010

The MP Strikers Under 11 division one boys soccer team competed for a chance to win the NorCal State Cup title on Saturday, January 9th right here in Menlo Park. At a game attended by over 250 local soccer fans, the Strikers played an exciting finals match against local rival PAC Atlas of San Jose. Ultimately dropping the match 4-2, the Under 11 boys team finished as the club's highest ranking team in history, second out of over 105 teams from all over Northern California.

The MP Strikers 98B Blue team, coached by Alessandro Biral, reached the NorCal State Cup finals by competing in a season long tournament running from mid August through December. With a record of 5-0-1, the Strikers qualified for the finals by beating the Santa Rosa Leones in a match that went into double overtime and was decided by penalty kicks. Ater a header goal in the second half by Sam Rothstein, the Strikers tied the game 1-1. Two golden goal overtimes left the score tied and led to a decisive penalty shoot-out. Midfielder, Leonardo Biral scored the winning PK while keeper, Josh Morgan, saved 3 penalty shots to carry the team into the Super Group finals.
