Cyclist convicted on drug, intoxication charges

After a two-day trial and deliberations of about an hour, a San Mateo County jury convicted Menlo Park resident Ervin Gene Horton on two felony counts and two misdemeanors in connection with his arrest for riding a bicycle while intoxicated on Menlo Park streets last year.

Two felonies for riding a bike stoned with a rock in the pock? If he was in possession, how could he have avoided taking it in the jail? Seems a bit much. What if the man had been white and from my neighborhood?
