Editorial: Another stinger for Atherton

The $230,000 Atherton agreed to pay out last week to settle a civil lawsuit filed by police officer Pilar Ortiz-Buckley, who claimed she suffered ongoing sexual harassment from public works supervisor Troy Henderson, shows just how vulnerable a small town can be to the indiscretions of its employees.

Sounds like the public in general should be relieved that this online forum occasionally compensates for Atherton's dufus management style --Sure--you have to pick through the postings with an editor's eye--but it would be hard for anyone to miss the fact that just last month, our crazy council gave Mr. Gruber a big fat raise for mishandling yet another issue---maybe he really is doing exactly what the council wants.......

Atherton has a Town Manager form of Government. In other words, Gruber should be held to answer for all of this. The council should let him go and find a better candidate.

Who wants to bet that the council will approve another round of raises with the hope of that this will take the focus their problems.
