Apology due from Almanac Editorial Staff

Original post made by Ray McIntyre, another community, on Dec 7, 2009

My Grandson Ryan Ferrari,21, was killed in an auto accident on Saturday 28th Nov 09, on a road in Woodside Hills. His funeral service was held at Our Lady of the Wayside Church in Portola Valley, on the 3rd Dec. Subsequently, an article in the Almanac had quoted from an interview by an Almanac reporter wiith a friend of Ryan's at the funeral site. The article, in general, spoke highly of Ryan, but Ryan's friend (I suspect inadvertently) had volunteered the opinion that Ryan was prone to 'reckless driving'. This friend later apologised to Ryan's parents and family, when he read the published Almanac article. He clearly realized that his remark was thoughtlessly insensitive.
But where is the public apology for this article, written by the Almanac journalist, and by the editorial staff he reports to?
Theirs is the greater responsibility for carelessly publishing this heartless statement.
Readers of the Almanac are waiting.

You do deserve an apology. That comment was inappropriate. If the Almanac won't do it, I can offer an apology in that I regret you had to suffer for reading that.
