How does everyone feel about the smaller lots being zoned in with the bigger lots.

Original post made by Fair, Atherton: West Atherton, on Nov 1, 2009

Smaller lots in Atherton are in the R1A (larger lot) zoning. Lots that are as small as .18 of an acre (less than a fifth of an acre) are zoned in with the bigger lots 1-3 acres. Do you think this is fair. The smaller lots have the same setbacks as the larger lots. Wouldn't it make more sense all the lots under 1/5 acre be the same zoning as most of the other smaller lots in Atherton.

I can think of a current council member with a small lot who just went right ahead and built whatever they wanted to with no reguard for any rules-- to be safe you might want to change your address afterwards if at all possible --this helps to keep any records clear.

We can't punish people who have bought the smaller homes in Atherton. The existing setback rules do not make sense and have resulted in an unfair hodgepodge of some homes being grandfathered in, and some not. Where is the sense in this?
