Well, I really wanted to write something positive about the district. I read this piece and thought that what a nice change that the website was acknowledging the existence of charter schools.
Then I went to the website and note that the charter schools are not listed in the drop down menu, but after clicking on the overview and going to the bottom of the screen, they are acknowledged:

There are four charter high schools that currently operate independently within Sequoia district boundaries:"

Now, I wondered if this is typical and just for fun looked the the website for the Los Angeles Unified School District. Granted, it is a much bigger district, but I randomly looked at district 3 within the overall district, link is here:

There is a link to charter school information which if followed leads to an entire page devoted to charter schools within the district under the auspices of an office of innovation along with the following vision and mission statements:"

Charter schools represent the opportunity to examine practices and develop structures that can help solve the many challenges facing schools in the Los Angeles Unified School District and the greater educational community.

The Los Angeles Unified School District views charter schools as part of the District's family and as an asset from which we can learn. Now, I can't tell you if any of this is true, but at least in terms of PR, there seems to be an attempt to have a collaborative relationship.

I hate to say it, but in terms of working in a collaborative manner, SoCal would appear to be ahead of Silicon Valley on this issue. Oh well.

Did they consider SchoolFusion.com? It does a much better job with design and Websites for teachers...
