My eldest daughter, Class of 2007, did fantastic in Middle College at Canada College. The teachers are absolutely fabulous; the students are not numbers but real people there as are their parents! I can highly recommend it.

Ms. Katz..........I think it swell idea you release the figures and success stories for all parents to read.
If you have the number of kids going on to college or universite and get some comments from the family members, you would be doing a lot of people great story....and perhaps a solution for some of the parents who have given up.
I am still of the belief that all graduates spend a year going through Europe for at least a year and also Africa and volunteer in the Peace Corps. Character is more important than A's and fraternities and sororities. They can find work very easily.

I am one of the Middle College teachers quoted in the article and would like to comment that while Melissa certainly represents the attitude of many of our students in regard to their high school experience, other students have had a very positive experience in the traditional high school setting, but are simply looking for a different opportunity through Middle College. Each Middle College teacher has taught at the comprehensive high schools within the SUHS District, and each of us can speak to the high quality of education and dedication of its teachers. Middle College is a support program for students acknowledged to have a potential they may not be reaching for any number of reasons. Middle College works in conjunction with all district highs schools, and not in competition with them. We're an alternative program which works wonders for the right kid, but is not right for all kids.
