Fair Oaks Lane to be closed for rail work

Original post made by Andrea Gemmet, Almanac staff writer, on Aug 6, 2009

From Caltrain spokeswoman Christine Dunn:

Caltrain will temporarily close the Fair Oaks Lane railroad crossing in Atherton over two weekends to reconstruct the crossing and adjacent track. Crews also will repave the street. Work will take place from 8 p.m., Friday, Aug. 14 to 6 a.m., Monday, Aug. 17 and again the following weekend Aug. 21-23.

Traffic will be detoured via Middlefield Road and El Camino Real to Fifth and Watkins avenues. Flagmen will direct traffic and pedestrians around the construction.

Construction crews will make every effort to work as quickly and quietly as possible to minimize any disturbance to neighbors. However, neighbors may hear back-up safety alarms and noise from construction equipment. Two portable light towers powered by a diesel generator will be used at night.
