Today: Lyme disease program in Woodside

Lyme disease, the bacterial infection spread through the bites of ticks, can be a big problem for residents and visitors of the woody areas of San Mateo County. A presentation on the disease is set for the evening of Thursday, July 30, in Woodside.

Can Lyme disease be carried by wood ticks? Or is it only the deer ticks we need to worry about? At the Año Nuevo State Reserve (on the coast north of Santa Cruz) we see wood ticks very frequently -- but almost never deer ticks.
