I whole heartedly agree with Ms. Lemmon. The Menlo Park fire fighters/
paramedics are above and beyond first rate. Within the 40 years I have resided here, I have seen them in action several times. And have personally required their assistance 3 times. Two of these times I would rather not discuss, however the first time was somewhat funny.
One night many years back, I hyperventilated (for the first and hopefully last occurence of my doing so) and honestly thought I was a 'goner.' It turned out to be a real Fred Sanford moment. "Louise I'm coming!" I dialed 911. The despatcher asked if my front door was unlocked. I unlocked and opened it. By now, prostrate on the the entrance hall floor, I awaited either death or their arrival. It took them just minutes to get here. "Can you get up?;" they asked.
And too my surprise... I could! It was Christmastime. My tree was lit, my house aberantly neat and orderly, and there was a delightful fire in the fireplace. There were 3 or 4 of them, one of whom I remember was a very solicitous and beautiful young woman. (In fact, she is the ONLY one I remember). One of the men helped me to a living
room chair and SHE monitored my pulse. It turned out I was just fine. And had I a paper lunch-bag (and knew how to use one) I could have forgone calling them at all. For a short time, we all sat down and had a lovely chat. She even commented how lovely my home was and complemented me on how nicely I'd decorated it.
Even though I would love to see her again, I have always made a point since: to Keep A Paper Lunch-Bag In Close Reserve!
Often after losing something one values... the "God's" have a way of delivering something even better. I hope this is the case for Ms. Lemmon.
